Press Conference Human Rights Watch
Today I spent some time on a press conference. Human Rights Watchwatch was presenting a report on Northern Uganda. Sorry: embargo on the news until midday tomorrow East African Time. The forgotten in Northern Uganda where the LRA abducts young boys and girls to work for them as sex slaves and soldiers, is still being forgotten.

Yeah, and now I learn again that cynicism kills. Reading the HRW report you get the feeling it’s only terrible up there, and there is no change at all. Just returned from Gulu, where many of the abuses by the UPDF are committed. What I found was a booming and growing city. The attacks by the LRA are not so many any more, and the town is rapidly opening news busineses, bars and restaurants.
Still the population is aware that the situation can change any moment, but they don’t sit down with it. After all still 1,000nds of children come to Gulu because they’re afraid of abduction by the rebels.
Cynicism would cause the people to believe it’s all bad, and stop further investigation apart from the HRW report.
Cheers
look at comment on Hotel Rwanda, thanks!
